This Isn't Just a Race. It's a Tanzania Adventure.

There are destination races—and then there are experiences that become part of your life story.

Imagine standing at the start line in Tanzania with Mount Kilimanjaro rising above you, surrounded by runners from around the world. Whether you’re taking on 42K, the half marathon or the 5K, race day is only the beginning.

After you cross the finish line, we’ve built in time to rest and recover before heading into the wild.

You’ll watch elephants move beneath ancient baobab trees in Tarangire. Journey across the vast plains of the Serengeti. Descend into Ngorongoro Crater in search of some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife.

One trip. Two extraordinary Tanzania experiences.

First, earn the medal. Then, celebrate in the wild.

Why This Trip?

🏃 Choose Your Challenge
You don’t have to be an ultrarunner—or even a marathoner. Choose the full marathon, half marathon or 5K based on the challenge that’s right for you.

🦁 Safari Is Part of the Adventure
This isn’t a quick safari add-on. You’ll spend four days exploring Tarangire, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro with an experienced Tanzanian safari guide.

😌 We Built in Recovery
We aren’t putting you into a safari vehicle at sunrise the morning after the race. Monday morning is yours to sleep, stretch, recover and enjoy Moshi before our afternoon transfer to Arusha.

❤️ Bring Someone Who Doesn’t Run
Your partner, friend or family member doesn’t need to race to come along. Non-runners can experience race weekend with the group and join the complete Tanzania safari.

🌍 Travel With People Who Know Tanzania
Roam Wild Adventure isn’t simply sending you to Tanzania through a third-party tour. Tanzania is at the heart of what we do. Our local team brings knowledge, hospitality and connection to the experience from the moment you arrive.

The Journey

MOSHI → KILIMANJARO MARATHON → RECOVERY → ARUSHA → TARANGIRE → SERENGETI → NGORONGORO

9 days. One finish line. A whole lot of wild.

Meet Ezekiel

He’s run it. Now we’re taking you there.

Roam Wild Adventure’s Ezekiel Kombe knows this race firsthand. He has taken on the Kilimanjaro Marathon himself—from the energy of the start to the challenge of the course and the feeling of crossing that finish line.

This time, he’ll be cheering on the Roam Wild crew.

Itinerary

Kilimanjaro Marathon & Safari 2027 Itinerary

Welcome to Tanzania | Arrive Kilimanjaro → Moshi

Karibu Tanzania!

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where the Roam Wild Adventure team will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi, the lively mountain town at the foot of Kilimanjaro.

Settle in, recover from your travels and meet your fellow adventurers. In the evening, we’ll gather for a welcome dinner to officially kick off the journey, talk through the days ahead and start getting excited for race weekend.

Overnight: Moshi
Meals: Welcome dinner

Race Prep & Moshi

Today is all about getting ready—and saving those legs.

After breakfast, we’ll take care of race-weekend logistics, including race packets/bibs and anything else needed for Sunday. The rest of the day is intentionally easy, giving you time to explore Moshi, relax at the hotel, hydrate and prepare for race morning.

Tonight, get some rest. Tomorrow, you’re running Kilimanjaro!

Overnight: Moshi
Meals: Breakfast

Race Day | Kilimanjaro Marathon

This is the day you came for.

Join runners from around the world for an unforgettable race experience beneath the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Choose your challenge: the full marathon, half marathon or 5K. Not running? You’re still part of the adventure—come cheer on the Roam Wild crew and soak up the energy of race day.

Whether your finish line comes after 5 kilometers or 42, today is about challenging yourself, celebrating what your body can do and experiencing Tanzania in a completely different way.

Afterward, head back to the hotel to shower, rest and recover. That evening, we’ll come together for a post-race celebration dinner.

You earned this one. 🥂

Overnight: Moshi
Meals: Breakfast & celebration dinner

Recover, Relax & On to Arusha

No alarms necessary.

We’ve deliberately built recovery time into the itinerary. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and a slow morning in Moshi. Sleep in. Stretch. Book a massage. Grab a coffee. Wander around town. Or do absolutely nothing—we won’t judge. 😂

Later in the afternoon, we’ll transfer to Arusha, Tanzania’s safari gateway.

Check into your hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening. Tomorrow, we trade running shoes for safari vehicles.

Overnight: Arusha
Meals: Breakfast

Let the Safari Begin | Arusha → Tarangire

RUN: accomplished. RECOVER: accomplished. Now it’s time to ROAM WILD.

After breakfast, meet your safari guide and set out for Tarangire National Park, known for its enormous baobab trees, beautiful landscapes and large elephant populations.

Your first game drive introduces you to an entirely different side of Tanzania as we search for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, lions and the many other species that call this ecosystem home.

By tonight, race-day crowds will feel a world away.

Overnight: Safari lodge/camp
Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner

Into the Serengeti | Tarangire → Serengeti

Today we journey toward one of the most legendary wildlife destinations on Earth: Serengeti National Park.

The drive itself is part of the experience as Tanzania’s landscapes unfold around you. Eventually, the scenery opens into the seemingly endless plains for which the Serengeti is famous.

We’ll game drive along the way, keeping watch for big cats, elephants, giraffes, wildebeest and countless other species.

As evening approaches, settle into your safari camp or lodge surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African wilderness.

This is Tanzania.

Overnight: Serengeti safari lodge/camp
Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner

A Full Day in the Serengeti

Wake up in the heart of the Serengeti with an entire day devoted to wildlife.

We’ll follow the rhythm of the bush rather than a rigid checklist, allowing your guide to respond to wildlife movement and conditions that day. Perhaps we’ll find lions resting after a hunt, elephants crossing the plains, cheetahs scanning the horizon or enormous herds moving through the ecosystem.

February is also an exciting season in the greater Serengeti ecosystem, when the migration is generally associated with the southern plains and calving season—although wildlife, of course, follows its own schedule.

Between game drives, take a moment to appreciate where you are.

A few days ago you were crossing a finish line beneath Kilimanjaro. Today you’re sitting in the Serengeti.

Overnight: Serengeti safari lodge/camp
Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner

Ngorongoro Crater | One Last Wild Day

One more extraordinary Tanzania experience awaits.

We’ll make our way toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife environments.

The crater floor supports an incredible concentration of wildlife, giving us another opportunity to spot lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, zebras, wildebeest and—with some luck—the elusive black rhino.

After our game drive, we’ll begin the journey back toward Arusha, where you’ll enjoy your final evening in Tanzania.

It’s hard to believe how much has happened in just over a week.

Overnight: Arusha
Meals: Breakfast & lunch (final dinner on your own)

Until Next Time | Arusha → Kilimanjaro Airport

Enjoy breakfast and a final morning in Tanzania before your transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home.

You’ll leave with race medals, safari photographs and plenty of stories—but hopefully something harder to pack into a suitcase, too.

You came to Tanzania to take on a challenge.

You leave having experienced so much more.

RUN. RECOVER. ROAM WILD.
